Also known as: 2-Phenoxyethanol, PhE

What is it?

A widely-used preservative considered safer than parabens. Generally well-tolerated at standard concentrations (1% or less) but can cause reactions in sensitive individuals.

Rare skin sensitization, potential irritant for eczema-prone skin at higher concentrations
